If you have an experience with branding, we'd be happy to post it in our Blog. In this blog we'll discuss How To Brand your Business.

Why Brand? A Brand is simply a way to differential one's business from another. The stronger your brand, the more likely a consumer will select your business over the lesser or unknown Brand.

Branding your company or business should be a priority and if done consistently it will add to long term success. There are many ways for a small business to brand or create a brand identity. What can you do to simply the branding process; here are some suggestions:

Make the brand simple and easy to understand; e.g., McDonalds, KFC, Coke, Pepsi, Nike. These brand are totally recognizable and we know what they stand for. This did not happen overnight. Expect time for your brand to develop.

Use your brand (logo) on everything you send out, give out or show. No one will know or understand a brand unless the rule of repetition is employed. Repetition is central to developing brand awareness.

Connect an emotion to your Brand. A brand has no meaning in and of itself. Words are fine for adding meaning to a brand, but seeing a happy and gleeful child eating a Cold Stone Creamery ice cream cone make the Cold Stone brand even stronger.

Make the brand or logo scanable so that it can be easily copied and sent to others via the internet, print of fax.

Put some white space around your ad so that it the eye can easily pick out the brand from the rest of the page or context.

Be consistent and patient. It takes time and multiple exposures for the consumer to "get it" and know what your design means, who you are and where you are located.

Last, try multiple ways to get your brand out...vehicle wraps, Internet, billboards, stationary, email communication, all ads and, even, your shirts and promotional material.

Jim Petersen, Ph.D.
President EMI
Welcome

Welcome to my blog.
